Toshiba SP6000 Display problem

I have this pretty old school Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 laptop i'm bringing back to life. Reinstalled windows, drivers and everything seems to be working well except the screen.

There is a think black line on the right hand side, due to the incorrect screen resolution. It can only go as far as 969x768 which itself is a random resolution.

I've downloaded and installed the video drivers 1000 times and reinstalled windows twice, anyone shed any light please?

Could your screen be bad? Did you have this problem before you started to reinstall all this stuff?

No it was all fine before hand, but then again that was about a year ago since i lastr started it up
