I have a Toshiba Tecra 8200. When it has loaded into windows, about 30 seconds later the screen goes dark and i can only just see the desktop.
Have i loaded the wrong video driver? or is there a way to make it light by using the keyboard?

Thanks

well for those specs it would be normal my old computer use to take 1 to 2 mins to load window.

It's after windows has loaded the screen goes dark!
The only way to get it light is to press FN+F1 which i guess locks it, then i press it again and the screen is light but only fior around 30 seconds then its dark again

I'v re-installed the video driver and it's still doing the same!
Its only doing this when it is on battery power, when it's connected to the mains its fine.
Iv checked the power options and its nothing from there, is there a way to change the brightness, a program or a keyboard shortcut?

I'm not sure with the gateways... well if it is only on the battery power then i say it is the battery. How old is this laptop?

it's an old laptop but i found a power management program and that has made the screen lighter then it was and itr stays at that brightness all the time so i think that will due to its age.

Thanks for all the help

check the power settings on the laptop, alot of laptop when unplug from the charger the screen will dim a bit, to preserve battery life, that can be changed in the power settings

You can do it on the keyboard by pressing FN + a F(number). Most of the time it with be able to be changed under the power settings.
