My girlfriend really wants one of these and I must admit they seem cool. Does anyone know about them or own one?

For companies/information kiosks, they work pretty well. However, for home use I think they're just a little bit of a novelty. Not very practical and you have to clean them at least every day. Just not a good idea for the home, in my opinion.

Finger prints, dirty, sweaty screen.
Unnatural positioning of hands/arms when using a desktop monitor especially, a laptop would be slightly better using a virtual keyboard but no, not practical for home use.

Touchscreen monitors as in those HP all-in-one touchscreen PCs? My friends dad has one and it's pretty cool, but the touchscreen doesn't really come in handy too often.

I have a tablet laptop that has a touchscreen and that's a bit more useful cause it's actually faster to reach up and touch something than to select it with the touchpad.

Thanks, I am deterred though, I doubt she is. Are the just a peripheral device you hook up and install a driver for? Wasnt sure if there was any more to it.

i agree, they are not flexible enough to multitask or do day to day things, maybe if it was on all the time, in the kitchen or family room for quick internet access it would be nice. Otherwise novelty, wouldnt have it for my main PC

You will use the crap out of the touch screen the first week and probly will not use it ever again..

well what are you gonna use it for?
if it's for fun and happpiness, go for it.
they are relatively average as far as processing power goes,
but sometimes its fun to be able to switch it around (spin the screen)
and just use the little stylus as a mouse.
oh ya, if you get one, make sure it has a stylus and not just a touchscreen.

Yeah, I am thoroughly convinced not to get one now but that little touch pad seems cool for 30$. I can only imagine playing a shooter trying to use the screen as a mouse lol.

Touchscreens can actually be very useful if you have the screen positioned right. You get to the point where you'll use the mouse and touchscreen at the same time. It does help to get a good one though.

MS paint is a blast if you use a stylus :)
