Do you need a motherboard for a certain cpu or are you building all new? The reason why you can't use a new case for a dell motherboard is because dell uses a single connector for case and usb connections and it won't be able to connect to a standard motherboard.

rite ok, yea im building new, just took the cpu and motherboard out of a dell i got from school, thought it would be a cheeper option, apparently not haha, oh well, got any sugestions for new mb and cpu?

budget? I'd probably recommend a quad core amd build unless you got the money then go for intel sandy bridge.

i put my dell dimenion 2400 motherboard in a new Hec Blitz case. The usb jack on the board is standard and matches the new cases plug. usb / audio-mic/ and power plus leds are on separate connectors on my dell board and i was able to wire them to my new case using a wire diagram for my board that i found online. My dell power supply also is a regular atx power supply and not a special one like most people say, except new power supplys have one extra wire that should be removed.

But the dell optiplex 755 front panel has power/led/usb/audio on one small chip board, the wires coming from that do connect to separate places on the mother board and those wires could be hard wired to the wires on the new case if you could find a wire diagram of optiplex 755 motherboard jacks.

Probally easier to get a new mother board and cpu:
