Trackmania game issues

I downloaded Trackmania Nations and i keep on getting problems with it. It will never run the game i just get errors and download issues. It will get to the play game screen but when i click play it does nothing. I really want to play this game but it won't play. I tried redownloading it 3 times but still nothing. Anyone else have this problem?:confused:
 
Well i downloaded it from Fileplanet.com the last 2 times i tried to download it but i checked out the link and i am going to try downloading it from that link onto my laptop this afternoon and see if it will work on there instead of my desktop. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on my desktop and Vista on my laptop:confused: i downloaded trackmania nations not trackmania nations forever. What is the difference between the 2?
 
trackmania nations forever is the new one, support for the original trackmania nations will end in a few months.


the original nations has some compatibility problems with vista, there is a download update available. but now youre better off downloading Forever.
 
Ok thanks you for the link. It worked fine on my 2 vista computers. Is the forever version the full game. Can i get more vehicles and different types of vehicles? How is the online play?
 
most of the Forever game is the same as TMN, just better graphics, better online ladder, dirt tracks and better tracks.

you cant get diff types of vehicles, you have to buy Trackmania United Forever for that.

and yes, it is the full game.
 
I have had it on the vista machine and XP machines in our house for months now (old and new versions) flawlessly.... Awesome game though =)
 
I have some of the same issues. Whenever it starts a black dos window pops up then disappears. Ive tried several of the DX hacks that people have said on other forums but no such luck. Guess this is just one of those games that doesnt work for some people.

Whats your specs?
 
where have you downloaded the file from?

the specs are:

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c or better

Hard Drive: 750 MB free disk space

make sure your pc is up to those standards.though i would reccomend a better video card and more RAM a couple of my Squad mates have been having problems with the Nvidia geforce 7500 / 7600 cards i think.
 
I got my copy from several places, dont remember the first...or the second. But what I currently have is from steam, so Im sure its not the download :P.

It might have something to do with the 7*00 series. We'll wait and see I suppose.
 
I don't think it has to do with the 7*00 series I ran it on a 7950gt (current) and a 7900gs (brothers laptop) fine, unless you are referring to something else entirely and I am making a fool of myself.

hehe as i said people i know had problems with the 7500 / 7600 havent seen any problems with any others.

i have no idea what could be causing the problem then... hmm... i dont run it on my vista install so im unable to test it myself.
 
is the game being run as an administrator ?

and Kobaj, do you get the black dos screen when you launch the game from the shortcut or when you click "play" on the first menu?

It pops up for a split second and then closes. ONE TIME it worked, the black screen came up, stayed up, and then my whole monitor switched and the game loaded and I played for about an hour. Ive tried to replicate all I did that night, but it still doesnt work : /.
