Trade my desktop for laptop?

well, my friend wants to trade me his laptop (Laptop)

for my desktop

HP Pavilion 513n

1.8ghz Intel Celeron
Win XP Pro SP1 and Linspire Linux
120gb Western Digital Caviar (I actually will probably put my 120 in my other computer, and give him the 80gb)
512mb RAM
64mb Intel Extreme Graphics
52x24x52 CDRW Burner
8x DVD/CD-RW Burner (i will probably take this out too)
17in Dell CRT Monitor

should i do it or not? he wants to trade sometime at the end of summer, when his racing season is done (he drag races)
 
If the specs follow that site's, it wouldn't be that bad of a trade... Graphics look good, though I assume it's shared RAM :-/ Only thing is I would test out the battery life and run some tests on the harddrive. Those are the first things to fail. It also didn't have USB2.0 from what I read. Of course it's possible to add that in with a PC-Card...
 
looks like a very good trade, anf about the usb 1.1, if your only gonna be hooking up mice, keyboards, joysticks, ect, then it will be more then enough, the only problem would be if you use a flash drive or external drive, besides that, looks like a very good trade. Why would he want to trade in the first place though? his looks better then your desktop, lol
 
Yeah, the USB 1.1 kinda turned me off, because i was have a 20gb mp3 player that is pretty full, that i would kinda like to transfer between. But the desktop itself only has 1.1! I usually do my transfers on my other computer, but i kinda want something portable, since our family travels quite a bit.

You should trade, almost everything is better. Hey, after you trade for the laptop want to trade it for my old DeLL PII? :P
 
He knows what hes getting, and he knows what hes trading. I know I will definently get alot of use of it seeing as how I travel so often and I will also want to get a docking station for it(have to see if one is avalible).

haha the cpu on the laptop is a lot better than the one in the desktop. make the trade.

it says the laptop has an agp 4x slot so i doubt its shared ram. plus his intel extreme on the desktop is pretty crappy too.
 
I think you get much better value trading for the Laptop and it would have a better resale value than your desktop so you could go ahead and sell it after the trade get the extra money and maybe buy a new one.
 
yeah the laptop is worth alot more than your comp

you should check to see why he wants to trade, his laptop might be f*ckd

dude...are u kidding me...thats the trade of the year...make it!!!
and if the comp is faulty track him down and bust his nuts!!!
