transfer iTunes?

I am getting a new hard drive and wondering what the best way to transfer my songs would be. I have songs from a bunch of locations from downloading mixtapes and stuff off the internet and was wondering if there would be a way to put all of itunes songs in one place. Also I would like to have my play lists still which were erased last time I transferred itunes.

It's best if you centralize it in on folder than back up that folder. iTunes is really just a front end, but it does create a database of where your library is located. Which is typically in your home folder.

iTunes is a media player that organizes your music, for back ups, you need to centralize it and then back up that folder.

back it up on a cd. thats what i did.

Keep music files in a single folder and make backup on a portable HDD or burn on DVD.
