I want to get a new larger HD but i want to know if i can just transfer Windows Xp??

Thans for your time.:)

What are the other things on the drive that you don't want to transfer over? There may be several ways to do it, depending.

If you mean transfer the OS from one hard drive to another, as far as i know it cant be done. Since it would confuse Windows since it has different file tables, as well as other reasons.

Yeah, if you did that, you'd have some crazy registry errors.
Can't you just install windows on the second hdd? That would be much easier.

You guys seem to be talking about copying and pasting windows files across. It's perfectly feasible to ghost a drive, sector by sector, to a new drive. If he did that, and he was after having his music and documents on a seperate drive, for example, he could format the old drive and transfer the stuff across from the new drive.

magicman is right, just ghost over the OS. Get rid of w/e you don't want, and then re-install if you really want a CLEAN Windows install. You should be able to re-use your CD-Key since you didn't switch harddrives, it's essentially just a recovery re-install.
