Hey guys/ladies.
Were getting a new computer over the next few days and i was wondering how do i transfer my pictures and music over the the new computer. I would think to put the pictures onto a pen drive then transfer to new computer but how do i go about getting all of my 1000+ songs from real player onto my new pc. Also how do we go about putting the interent and email into the new one. I'm sure you'd just plug the enthert (spelling) into the back but not 100% sure. And is there any problems i may have with internet and new computer from bigpond? (The provider)

Sorry about the amount of question. I just don't have a clue how to do it.
Cheers
Derek

The internet is just a matter of plugging the ethernet cable.
As for the email it depends on the client. If you're using outlook 2003/2007, you can use the "File -->Import / Export" settings, make sure you export as a .PST.
Then on the new pc do the same, just restore the .PST, simple process really.
As for the data, i suggest you get an external enclosure and put your old hard drive in it because I'm sure you don't want to void thw warranty of the new pc by opening it

I would just burn them to dvd's. A dvd holds a lot of pictures and/or songs. And you will have it all backed up in case you lose everything.

Network your two computers with a router.

Edit the WORKGROUP name so it matches on both computers: My Computer (right-click) > Properties...

Restart both computers.

Now when you go into My Network Places, you will see a Public folder on the second computer.
Open up the folder, and drag all the files you want to transfer. It might take a couple hours to
transfer several gigabytes.

After the transfers are complete, jump on the other computer, and find the Public folder. It will have
all your files.
