Transfering files

I have a laptop and now my cd drive won't work. I'm going to sell my computer but I have a bunch of large files that I need to save somehow. Since I can't copy them to cd's is there any way I can connect my laptop to another computer and transfer the files so that I can save them onto cd's on another computer? I don't know anything about computers and I don't want to spend a lot of money, so please keep it simple.Thanks.

if they both have networking cards you could network them together and transfer the files over the cable... that's prolly the easiest way... other than that you could buy an external USB/FireWire HDD but that'll cost a lot of cash...

Cheapest solution is getting a corss-over cable and transferring your files to a computer that does have a burner

u may also try USB to USB connection cable, search ur local shops or ebay, they r very cheap, under £20. u can connect ur desktop using USB port n then copy.

BUt 1st option should be a NIC. yes u can also try to connect with modem of which i hav no expi but heard of it from Microsoft

yes i would suppose a modem connection would work as well... but he wants to transfer LARGE files, and depending on how large they are, it could take forever to transfer over a modem network...
