Transferring files from computer to computer..

Does it affect the Internet, we have a limited Internet package here at my house, only 500mb per day. Normally I'd use it for photos and documents But now I'm trying to copy some game files and the files are way over the Internet limit...

Would connecting an ethernet cable to each computer make it easier??

I'm also thinking avout backing up the stud onto CDs but the cdr-s that they have on the shelf is only 700mb at a time so it would be about 6 CDs or so..

Any ideas would be appreciated

You would not be using the internet to copy files between computers. Do you have a wireless router hooked up? If so, you can set up the network for file sharing and wouldn't even have to use ethernet cables between pc's.

You are only using your network to transfer files not the internet itself so you can transfer hundreds of gigabyte between pc's and not use any of your internet allowance.

Yes that's right... I just copied about a gigabyte or two of data and it didn't slow down the internet
