Translator needs new computer

Hello computer experts. I'm not an expert on computers so I've come to ask the advice of some kind soul out there. I am ready to buy a new computer for my small translating business. I basically work at the computer 7/8 hours a day and use several kinds of translating software, but am not a gamer nor do I have any graphics needs.

My budget is about $ 1000 (which should include a decent monitor). I priced out a Dell Optiplex 745 (Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz, 2M, 1066MHz FSB), Windows® XP Home Edition) with 1G RAM, 160 G ROM and 8 MB cache but it was a bit pricey and I was wondering if anyone had a better suggestion.

thanks!

You could build the same thing for cheaper and actually get genuine components, which Dell doesn't use. THat looks to be a good PC, Vista would run pretty good on that, check your programs and see if they would run on Vista.

How about Lenovo

Any thoughts on the quality of their machines? I was browsing PC magazine and it gives it a decent rating for an inexpensive machine. ...
