Transporting my rig

This Friday I have to transport my computer all the way back to school which is a 6 hour drive on bumpy MI roads. I want to make sure that nothing snaps or is damaged so does anyone have any suggestions? Right now I am thinking of bubble wrapping the case and transporting it in the box that the case came in. I will be strapping it into the front passenger seat of my truck. I was thinking of using a "cardkeeper" for my ATI x800 Pro but I am unsure where to get one this short of notice. Any tips from lan party goers or anyone who transports their computer frequently?
 
we'll.. you could just uncrew the card from your case ;). otherwise the weight of the cpu cooler could snap the card/ damage the socket.
just unsrew it, and put it into a antistatic bag.
it works just fine with my 6800GT :)
 
what i do is lay it down flat on the side, window panel up. i put it in the passenger seat, not the back passenger seat and drive with one hand while placing your hand on the glass panel. :D unless you might run into trouble if you drive stick.
 
just have it secured and on its side... make sure nothing movable is on the bottom and NOTHING is on top.. having it in the passenger seat.. if u have guests..have them hold it.. lol
 
Thanks for the tips, makes sense to put it on the side because I have a heavy Thermaltake CPU cooler.
 
I think I am planning on taking out the VGA card and putting that in an anti-static bag. I will wrap it in bubble wrap and put in a save spot. My computer will be bubble wrapped and put into the box that the case came in. I will lay it on it's side (cp cooler facing up) onthe front passenger seat (seat all the way forward and protected will pillows so it doesn't move). When I get there I can just put the card in easily since my case has thumbscrews and my card is tightened with thumbscrews as well. Thanks for the tips, I will let everyone know how it traveled.

hold is hand on it for 6 hours? long time. lol

What you could do is take a few pillows, put some on the seat and place your computer on top of it, then just put a blanket or something on top so nothing scratches it. This should keep it secure and shouldnt get damaged by bumbps.
 
If you transport the case sideways there's less exertion on the CPU area, alternatively, just disassemble everything and put it back together when you reach your destination
 
Well, Thanks for all the suggestions. I took out my graphics card; put it in an anti-static bag, bubble wrapped it, and transported it in a box from a Radeon 7000. My computer was wrapped in plastic, bubble wrapped, and transported in the box that the case came in. I set it cpu cooler facing up in my front seat (was exactly the right size didn't move at all since it was touching the dash). I got it to school, reinstalled the graphics card, and my baby is working great! The only thing to get used to are the less than perfect pings I get from the school network. :D
