Trend Micro uninstalled my stuff...

Had to renew my Trend Micro today. It did it's whole "Optimizing your PC" thing, and in the process, it removed:
Canon printer stuff (my drivers, all of it)

America's Greatest Chili Cookbook

Bandicam

Logitech SetPoint

SpeedFan

Infrarecorder

HWMonitor

CCC

Unlocker

Audacity

Next year I'm switching back to Webroot. I've had enough of this.

I don't know. Every time I update Trend Micro it nukes half my programs and I have to go back and reinstall it all.

I think I might have a more serious issue. Going into my C drive I had a folder full of drivers I downloaded and screensavers. That, too is also gone.

Trend seriously deleted several programs, a folder full of driver discs I copied, my custom cursors and screensavers, and a registry file. After this years subscription ends I'm just using Avast.

Just checked--iTunes is gone too. Reinstalling that now as well.

I didn't think it'd happen again. This is the last year I'm using Trend. For sure.

Honestly thought about it... but I paid $50 for it and I'm gonna use it at least until it expires next year. Then I'm done with Trend.

Edit: Also just realized it deleted my flying toaster screensaver... My toasters keep me happy!

I also just went into Trend's settings and locked it down to only allow disk scans and it must ask for a passcode to delete anything. I managed to pull most my lost files from my backup. Crisis adverted.

Yes because my parents don't want me using free stuff. I'm fine with it, I've gotten summer jobs and have some decent savings now so it isn't a huge problem keeping the Beast running anymore

I know. I don't argue with them though. I am switching back to Webroot because it's what I used before Trend and I was very happy with it and I even used Webroot on my previous PCs. I only started using Trend because its cheaper but since it's deleting all my stuff without reason I'm going back to webroot next year.

Why not just use a free AV. Hell even Defender is good enough for me.

Although you do share the computer so I kinda get that.

Currently uninstalling Trend Micro and going back to best buy for a refund. It deleted my stuff when it scanned again. Trading it for Webroot.

Turns out it's illegal to return antivirus. Dafuq. Im honestly scared to put it back on my PC, so we called it a $50 loss and I'm putting Microsoft Security Essentials on the PC. Since removing Trend the file disappearing has stopped and my PC even runs faster anyways.

They think that if it's free it isn't good. I know that's not true but I don't argue with them because that digs the hole deeper and things just get worse. So I cave in and buy
anti-virus and keep on with my life. They finally agreed to let me use MS Security Essentials after like 45 minutes of arguing. But I understand your point @Lacquer Head , I honestly do.
