Trendnet router problems please help, very desperate!!!

i am currently living in a rental house, the owner gave me the netwrok name and password, he also informed me that the connections tends to cut out sometimes. so i would restart the router and it would work, however one time when i restarted the router the name of the network was changed to the default "trendnet" and connection required no password anymore. that's all fine and dandy but all of a sudden the name of the network was replaced with "TEW631BRP65C2D6C7" and everytime i try to connect to that network (which i'm pretty sure its mine because its the only one in my wi-fi list with a 5-bar signal. Anyways every time i try to connect to that network it asks me for a 4 or 8 digit pin found on my router, i have tried every number combination humanly possible.

i believe the model of my wireless router is TEW631BRP

Sounds like a bad router, ask him if he will get a new one. A router just doesn't change its network name by itself. If you done a hard reset on the router, which it sounds like someone did, then it would set the network name and security back to default settings. My advice would be to talk to the owner and have him get it straightened out for you.

had kinda the same problem with my brothers router, we couldn't change the network name from the original one, and we couldn't connect to it, we took it back and got a new one and it worked perfectly.
