Hows it going people, well pretty new here. My brother was trying to upgrade a computer that was made for xp but , we always had w2k on it. Well today we tried the quick upgrade to xp. When it got to the point to where it restarted by itself, it just hung up and just keep restarting and now it wont boot off the cd at all. Tried and tried, and the computer just stays at the start up where bios check, where it check up on your ram, and hardware and it just hangs there now. Can you guys offer any help. Looking toward throwing it out the window now and getting another computer. Just wasted money on a new winxp pro cd for nothing now. Now where i can but a pretty good computer with out the software.

Try reinstalling entirely. Go to your bios and boot from the CD. Make sure you choose a fresh install, not an upgrade. Also be sure to back up any data you don't want to lose. You could download a linux live disc to access your hard drive, and burn a CD or use an external.

The problem is that you cant even get it to boot off the cd, it just get stuck at the begining where it tell that its an award mother board, and thats about it. It wont go beyond the bois dianostic, where it test your ram, drives, etc. I just stays there. Im thinking that the bios has gone to S@#! now, and might need to replace the whole computer now.
