Since you’re using Proton mail in Firefox, the sound comes from Windows notifications, not the New mail notification sound setting. In Windows 10, that sound is fixed, so you can only turn notifications on or off in Settings. That’s why changing the Sound Control Panel setting doesn’t make any difference.
