Trouble Enabling wireless on my Laptop

I recently bought a refurbed Thinkpad T60 and it doesnt have a wireless network connection under connections and therefore I have to use the internet via Ethernet connection to my Router. Can anyone assist me in helping me find a solution to get my laptop to pick up wireless signals. Thanks in advance

a black config box with 2 tabs "Location Profile" and "Wireless Radio" wireless radio only shows a bluetooth radio and no sign of any WLAN :(

Yep done it all. Nothing. Went on the official Lenovo website and installed about 5 different drivers and nothing has worked at all. There is no wireless Adapter under the device manager at all. It was previously used by my sister who bought it refurbed so it had XP re installed from disk and apparently all the drivers along with it so there would also be nothing to roll back to if I were to try Last known config/ System restore. There has been no wireless on it since she's had it.

ok, from what you are saying you have either faulty hardware or missing hardware.
If your card is not in the device manager, then your card is most likely missing, or it may be unplugged, or possibly plain fried. If it was just malfunctioning it would still be in the device manager, even if you had the driver installed.

ahh, the rest of the laptop is alright I take it, would this so called "frying" be a consequence of prolonged use? that's if it is fried. at some point I'll get it checked over to establish whats happened

it could be from a number of causes. Sometimes it is just a result of use. Most of the time that is the cause actually.

from personal experience I have better luck with express-card/PCMCIA adapters than with USB. I am pretty sure that the T60 has one or the other of these two. They seem to be damaged less on the move than USB adapters, and most if not immediately recognized will come with a driver disk.

there was a wireless lan option 'hidden' I enabled that value and when I rebooted I have new hardware which appears in the device manager as "Network Controller" with a yellow question mark, unsure if this is the wireless LAN. Thoughts?

try installing the driver for it. If it is the wireless card then it will go away and be recognized as the WLAN card.

if I installed a ton of drivers beforehand, surely it should automatically show up? I've installed about every WLAN driver for my machine and nothing D:

With the device disabled/hidden in the BIOS the installs probably failed. Try it again, it cost nothing to try a driver. If it does not work all you are out is time.

Right click on the device in device manager and click on properties, click on the details tab, then give me the 4 digit vendor and device id numbers. They look like this.
