ok this is a cd i bought from ebay for like 20C... i think its v7.04, maybe, or v6.sumthin i dont know. the problem is, when im installing it, it will hang at about 10% for a few minutes, then the screen goes black. im gonna leave it for half an hour to see if it works, but does anyone know why its doing this?

not really, i havent tried the new freespire.
how much ram do you have ? cause i remember zenwalk hanging at the screen saying "loading initrd"
i was running on a dell optiplex gxa with 256ram.

one and a quarter gigs... ok i learned that the screen went black as a kind of screensaver... but its still only at about 6-10% and its not budging

Not used freespire but when the CD is detected, do you get a menu with the option to check the CD? If so check it, could be a bad burn.

um, no i get like four or five options saying run linux live, install onto disk, edit/make partitions, and then options

but it just refuses to WORK i got it to run live, but partitioning, installing, both fall flat on their faces frozen

One other thing, the drive you are installing FROM, is that a master drive? The install can run unbelievably slow from a slave drive.

really? why? because of the ribbon wires? (i forgot their real name) ill go check in an hour or so if its master or slave. i know that its my burner drive, and i think its master...
