Trouble installing OS....XP pro

Doc

I just assembled my first self-built pc and everything seems to be running fine. On my first boot-up I inserted the XP pro CD and began formatting the partition. At about 27% percent into the process I thought something was wrong since the cpu fan was not spinning, so I quickly shut off the computer mid-process. After realizing all was well, I restarted and attempted to install XP pro again only to get the message:

Error loading operating system

I changed the boot sequence order, updated my BIOS, and changed the access mode to the HDD, but nothing has worked. I continue recieving the same error.

My specs:
Intel Core Duo E8400 3.0GHz
GA-P35-DS3R Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB
4 x (1GB) Corsair Memory

How do I fix this?

You should recieve a message of this or similar before that message: "Press any key to boot from CD"...

If you don't get that, you haven't made your OD the first boot device.

I do get that message and it adds about three or four periods one at a time, like it is loading, but then says error loading operating system

why the **** would you shut off your computer mid-process well you're probably going to have to buy a new disc good one :P

you should try changing the boot sequence to cd/(cd drives name), if don't work try resettin cmos, o ya and how did you flash your bios w/o going into operating system. but if you really can't do anything, if possible there may be a cd from the hard drive manufacturer and boot from there to format it from there.

Ya, believe me, I wish I could go back and not do that. I figured I would rather risk shutting it off mid-process than have a fried cpu though.

Anyway...after struggling with this stupid error for 2 and a half days now I got it...So simple that I feel like a complete moron. In the Bios there was an option that was disabled on default that says "USB Keyboard." My keyboard is, in fact, plugged into the USB port. I enabled it and pressed a key when it told me to and it worked. It confused me because I was able to use the keyboard in the BIOS, but not at the POST screen.

Whatever, I'm just glad it's working

I'm sorry, and you are...? It doesn't matter if the system was shut off mid-install, the OP just needs to start over. Gods I hope we don't have another Troll.

To the OP, glad you got it working and congrats on your 1st Build:)

Thanks for the input everyone. I just hope the install goes fine and error-free. Then I can finally be at ease
