Ok I was messing around in the folder options/file types and im not sure what i done. I need help every time i try and open my c drive it says "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel." but i can right click on c drive and click open and it will open. Then when i get it open and try to click on the files inside c drive it opens up the search results program in a new window. also if i right click them and click open it says ("what ever file i try and open" fileis not a valid win32 application.) im not sure how to fix the problem and its driving me nuts

Ok well first of all...Go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Try to restore your computer to a date BEFORE you did this. If this is not possible either because it does not go back far enough, or because you have system restore turned off, then...

Try going to a folder, any folder really...(if you can..) Go to Tools-->Folder Options-->File Types. Click once on the DRIVE option on the list. Go to advanced. Delete all entries, then click SET DEFAULT. Press ok.

Repeat that for "File Folder" and "File".

If that doesn't work then i probably duno..

System Restore would fix that almost for SURE. (95%)

The other option was an educated guess.

Good Luck!!

after it happend I run a system registy cleaner and for it to save my registry files it told me to stop system restore then turn it back on to save the files so i dont think using system restore would work. i thought of that but when i click on the options it has for the folder the only buttons i can click on is new and set as default. it wont let me click on delete or edit. could i start in safe mode and maybe have the delete key accessible. does any one know how to go into the registry and fix these problems
