Trouble web search

I need help with my internet explorer (I'm using my lap top and having trouble with my desk top. I can send and receive e-mails but internet search is not an option. This happened months upto a year ago and I am just now getting around to. I have windows 7 if that helps.

When I diagnoise the promblem is says check firewall settings and I don't know how.

Can you be more specific, and a bit more clearer?
Are you saying that Google/altavista/yahoo/ doesn't work for you?

I am sorry, I don't know how to be more specific.

Windows internet explorer is not allowing me to do anything.

It is telling me to check firewall settings for HTTP port (80), HTTPS port 443 and FTP port (21).

Does that help?
