Trouble with HDMI

Hi so i have a Goodmans 19inch Widescreen LCD HD ready tv Model number (LD1940WD) and a computer with a ATI Radeon HD 5570 GPU with a hdmi port.

The trouble is for the life of me i cant get a HD picture when i connect the two with a HDMI cable, all i get is fuzzy non hd picture.

Any help would be appreciated

my max res is 1440x900, and when i match the monitor and the gpu i still dont get a clear picture :s, is it because my tv is only hd ready as opposed to full HD?
 
Check the **native resolution, a monitor can be forced a different resolution. Not necesarely a max, though any other res u can end up with blackness or stretching etc.

Id find out what is for sure, maybe try testing both ur monitor and pc/gpu with other setups and see if one is ok without the other.

Sounds like bad settings at the moment.
 
the native is 1440x900, and i tried it with the 42inch sony full 1080p HD tv downstairs, and had no problems with image quality, quite confused.
