Trouble with new HDD

Hi,

I've just built my first PC but I'm having problems with the new maxtor 200g hdd.

When running the xp startup disks I get an message saying there is an error with the disk, the disk maybe damaged.

But one time I did manage to get past that stage with xp, then it came up with no cab file error.

I get that error when I tried to install me on the hdd. I'm running the hdd as master over a dvd-rw which is set to slave.

It partitions fine both with xp and me, it's just with xp the formatting. I'm not sure what else to say.

But it would be good if you could help as it is my first build.

Cheerz

maybe its just the way you wrote it, but i sounds like your xp cd is the disk it is refering to when says disk damaged. Are we sure that you xp cd is good

P4 3g CPU, 1g RAM, 200g Maxtor HDD, DVD-RW, CD-RW, FDD, on a ASRock P4S61 motherboard.

No cards.

My spec,

erm yeah I presume it's OK as it's new and I have installed it on my spare pc without registering so I know it works fine.

Your motherboard may not support harddrive partitions greater then 137gb...try partitioning it to 2 100gig partitions and install.

Yeah but that wont result in "disk may be damaged" errors ;)
