Trouble with XP and resolutoin settings

I installed XP on a new harddrive and when i run it the resoltuion is too big - all of the images are bigger than usual and pixelated slightly

However when i change the display settings to different resolutions my moitor says out of range

any help?

1. you dont have the video drivers installed.
2. your monitor is not supporting that resolution
3. your monitor is dying ( had to rma mines which has the same error message "out of range" )

4.Your Video Card is dying. (happened to me with my old Voodoo 3 about 4 years ago!

How do i combat these points?

Update your video drivers, and mess with your resolution. if that doesn't work try another monitor. if that doesnt work replace your monitor.

Monitor is pretty new like 3 months
and the monitor works fine on win xp on different harddive

What video card have you got?

I dont its built in - as my computer is 4 years + old
But it works fine with the other windows XP on other HDD

what kind of PC? You can probably download the integrated video driver from the manufactures website..

Monitor "out of range" is normally associated with the a refresh rate that it can't handle.
