Troubleshoot Information and Results

I gave my PC to my son that used to be in my sig.

Anyway it developed a nasty lockup problem and it would take a restart to come back online. It would lock up at times one time daily to 20 times daily.

After trying different ram, PS, HDD, CPU I finally figured it out, by mere accident I might add.

I was going load a program into it through the master CD rom, well it hesitasted, spit and sputtered. I knew this wasn't normal so I yanked it out, left the other one in there, made it master (IDE if anyone is wondering ).

Problem solved, the machine has been stable for over 48 hours with no lockup.

The moral of the story is, " sometimes we often look at the obvious but must remember to look at the not so obvious".
