I just replaced this motherboard with the same one I have now. The computer boots up but no video, no keyboard or mice lights are on. I will be switching out CMOS battery to see if that's the issue. I already tried the reset CMOS jumper but that didn't work. I also have an internal ago card and the onboard video card thats on the motherboard as well. Any suggestions that I may be missing?
 
Sounds like a grounding issue. Did you use the standoffs between motherboard and case? Did the previous motherboard work fine and then just quit?
 
What CPU are you sticking in there?

Can you build it on the outside of the case like on the box to verify grounding?
 
I currently have the i7 4790k and yes the last motherboard just stopped working. I will try to boot it up outside the case.
 
Hopefully its running bios version 2001 as thats the version needed to support the 4790K.
 
I wouldn't even know if it's running bios 2001 because it still won't boot up outside the case . I hope it's not the worst case scenario that the CPU is sho. Any other suggestions

Just throwing this out there. Do you think a Intel 4th Generation Celeron G1850 LGA1150 Haswell Processor would boot up fine without the 2001 bios or is that needed too?
 
The G1850 will work with original bios release. Try it and see if it posts. If it does then it can only mean cpu is bad or need bios update.

It worked flawlessly. Currently running on it now. Looks like I"m gonna have to toss that i7 4790k to the garbage, sucks though! Do you think an i5 4690k will work on the motherboard?
 
Check to see what bios revision it has first. You will need version 2001 to use the 4690k.
 
@James79, update the bios version to 2001, and put the i7 4790k on your mobo. Test to see if it boots. If it does, then it was just a bios problem. If not, then most likely when your old mobo died, it took out your 4790k with it.

What? At the BARE MINIMUM you can RMA it with Intel.

Update the BIOS on the board and reinstall the 4790K.
 
Has anyone actually filed an RMA with Intel before? I've never seen it or heard anyone go through that process before. Is it just like any other RMA or is Intel really difficult to deal with?
 
Why would you throw a perfectly good CPU in the garbage? You can sell it worst case scenario. All you need is the latest bios. Updating bios is super easy these days. Download it from the motherboard maker website, boot into your bios and find the bios flash function and install the bios you downloaded off any USB pen drive. Don't have a pen drive? Buy the cheapest one you can find ($5?) and do it.
