So... I'm trying to copy a six gig file to my external drive which has thirty gigabytes of free space. The hard drive I'm copying it from has nine gigabytes. Why won't it copy? I get an error message saying not enough diskspace, and to free up diskspace and try again. I did that but it still happened. Any suggestions?

Good idea. I'll do that.

Oh yeah... just analyzed it, it's pretty bad. Almost all red. Would that trick the computer into thinking it didn't have free space?

Downloading from someplace? I've heard it first saves it onto your HDD's temporary folder... 9-6GB = 3GB. Then it copies it to your destination... THEN it deletes it. 3GB - 6GB = -3GB :)

No...it's saved to my internal hard drive already, and I'm copying to my external hard drive. Would it still require this?

That's true, I didn't think of that. What file system is your external formatted to? If it's FAT32 that might be the reason for the error.
