Trying to download FSX

I have the Microsoft Flight Simulator Gold/ Accelerator. There are three discs. When I insert Disc. # 1, just seconds after I get a pop up ERROR 1628- InstallShield; Failed to complete installation. This problem was taken to Microsoft and HP and worked on for several hours, no solution.
I have Windows 8 64 bit. I checked all my Windows update history and every update is 64 bit. The FSX is a 32 bit system. Could that be the root of the problem? If I install Microsoft net Versions 1.1-4.5 32 bit would that fix it?
If that's it how do I know which downloads to get since I'm not computer literate.

I have been there, done that. I've had Microsoft logged in for hours. Hp for hours. It wasen't until the next day that a staff member on a forum brought to my attention that FSX needs 32 bit net framework 1.1 thru 4.5 X86 to function. All my updates are 64 bit because that's what my system is. I don't know how to do it, I've tried. I know now that is why I'm getting the ERROR 1628. I've asked Micrsoft to do and they tell me that they don't know how, what a joke.

OK, go in and try this first.. use the link below to uninstall anything that may have been leftover from the previous attempt to install FSX.

If you're already sure all of FSX folders and whatnot that it tried to create on the attempted install, then move on to the steps below.

step1: Don't install into the C: Program Files (x86) folder. Instead create and name a separate folder outside of Program Files.

step2: start the install. Keep an eye out for the "browse" option, and locate the folder that you created above.

step3: patiently wait to see if the installer will complete.

Try the above steps and see if that helps.
