Hey everyone, hoping this is the right section of the forum. I need a laptop for my photography business. I am fairly new to this but have learned what I will need but am having a terrible time finding it.

I am looking for a laptop with intel i7 quad core min., matte IPS screen, 15" or larger with minimum 1920x1080 resolution and also cover a large colour gamut, 10-16 gb RAM or higher, at least 500gb HDD hopefully 7500rpm but not neccessary , dedicated graphics 2gb or higher, no intel graphics please, hdmi port as I will be hooking it up to a larger monitor when home.

I may be forgetting something but I have tried using search on best buy etc. but it does not include screen type as well as a couple other inputs so I am stuck. I have always used PC so am comfortable with them so do not want to try mac please. I have a budget of $1000 - $1200 so I know it will be hard but even close would be nice, i am definately needing the screen and large ram, dedicated graphics and intel i7.

Thanks for any help. cheers

Lawrence

hey all, opinions welcome

I am open to suggestions, ideas, opinions. What would you do in my shoes? I was going to purchase from bestbuy as they have been great in the past but am open to other vendors. I basically need a beast that can handle multiple tasks with ease, reliable, great images etc. Please chime in lets hear what you have on your mind. thanks so much, looking forward to some posts on here.

Looks like bestbuy will be your best bet from what I have searched already. However, you are looking at closer to $1500

or possibly

Unfortunately, the ASUS only has a display resolution of 1600 x 900. And it isn't IPS. :(

Those are from Best Buy Canada, right? Is that where the OP lives? If not, here's one from Best Buy in the U.S.:

Still no IPS display (but at least 1920 x 1080), and short 8 gigs of RAM, but cheap enough to add yourself.

Or even a similar refurbed unit (still only 8Gb of RAM) for $1049 from newegg:

Here's a 15.6 incher with an IPS display. But another one with only 8gigs of RAM:

Same basic thing without the touchscreen (but still IPS):

Why you don't go for Dell Inspiron 17r 5737 Laptop, it fulfill all the requirement that you have mentioned, it has a screen size of 17.3". you should definitely have a look at it..

Looks like a decent laptop. But I could only find one model with an i7 CPU, and a dedicated graphics card, and I think it may only be available in Europe (the review I found was from Germany, translated to English). Not sure where the original poster is located. And the i7 CPU is a dual core ULV model, not a quad core.

No IPS display, either, which is the same problem with most suggestions we have made so far.
