This system is severely infected. Please follow the instructions in order.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Download and Run ComboFix
If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

In your next reply please post:
  • The Malwarebytes log
  • The ComboFix log
  • A fresh HiJackThis log
  • An update on how your computer is running
 
and if neither of those work which is unlikely then youll have to burn a recovery cd, boot it up and run a scan

there are several recovery cd's available
including

avg
antivir
and others


to help prevent malware infections in the future, your friend needs to run windows update and also update all third party programs, especially browsers and browser plug ins

to manage updates for third party programs i highly recommend Secunia psi
 
Have you tried running combofix in safe mode? Also you should be able to download RKILL.scr, run it, let it finish and then try reinstalling malwarebytes and running it after fully updating it.

Do not reboot your system after running rkill or the infections will reactivate again and you'll have to start over.
 
try renaming the malwarebytes setup file to something else, then try installing it and running a scan. Sometimes that works.

Like the others said, running combofix in safe mode can usually resolve these issues.
