Hello! I'm planning on getting a custom built computer in the near future. I probably won't assemble it myself but I want to pick out all the components. I'm a college student majoring in software engineering and I'm just now starting to get into classes in my major. As a hobby, I record music on my computer (currently a dell inspiron 1520 laptop). The reason I want to custom build my own computer is because audio recording/editing is really just too much for my laptop to handle.
So, I've been searching on the internet trying to learn about all the different components in a computer so I can make an informed decision on how to spend my $2,000. Basically, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good websites that provide good information for a beginner to get a handle on what to look for in all the different computer components. Would wikipedia be a good place to start? or no?
Thanks!
