trying to locate the proper scroll driver

i recently updated to windows 7 and now the scroll on my touchpad doesn't work. ive downloaded and installed the most up to date synaptics driver but no luck with the scroll. anyone have any ideas?

the laptop is an xps m1530 fyi
 
Check to make sure you haven't disabled it. The newest synaptics driver should have worked.
 
i looked through the hardware settings and didn't locate an option to turn the scroll off or on. i went through the synaptics icon - properties. any other ideas or am i not looking in the right place? thanks
