Hi every body a new member here and I would have to say Iam better At fishing than using this keyboard but I'll give It a go.I while ago a friend who uses a laptop to record his gps marks in his boat took some unwanted water onto his toshiba notepad and sure enough it took a dive and crashed destroying the hard drive also. The question Iam asking is after I locate a hard drive the same and change the board over as this looks like the problem due to salt corrosion will the hard drive work in another computer or is there extra work to do like firm ware numbers or some else that I don't know about. We are very keen to get those gps marks back, any help would be very gratefull before we do any damage.

Assuming the rest of the drive is working and you get a board from the same model drive it should work on any PC.

If your worry is accessing that hard drive, then just go to ebay and buy one of those enclosures for a laptop hard drive I think its a 2.5 inch. Anyway, with that you should be able to go as far as utilizing the hard drive. Ithink that the enclosure may run you about 5 to 10 dollars (depeding on how fancy you go)
