I installed my Nvidia driver correctly because i see the icon on the bottom right and options on actions. But when i right click desktop and go to properties and go to settings then advance i dont see my driver on the tabs to turn vertical sync off. I have a Geforce 7600GT 256mb pci express x16 video card. I stay at 60fps for games like counter-strike but trying to aim for 100. Can i never turn vertical sync off?

You have to turn that off (if you have it on) in the game's control panel, not with the Nvidia drivers. Also make sure you have the latest drivers (93.71, last time i checked).

Some games lock your fps at a certain point. You have to disable it in the console. I know that in Doom 3 you can't get framerates over 60, you have to type in a command to disbale that. I have a 7900GT and Doom 3 is ALWAYS at 60fps no matter how intense the action is. If you want to benchmark, I suggest you use the 3dmark series, it has became a standard now, a medium to compare the performance of different graphics cards. If you just want to play counter-strike, then 60 fps should be enough, keep in mind that a fps of 23.9 is smooth motion, so anything over is a waste. The 7600GT is a mid range card but it should take counter-strike which is an older game with no sweat.

command to unlock fps in cs is fps_max 150 (type in console get to console with the ` key)and also fps_modem 150

to turn vertical sync off you must use the nvidia control panel because cs doesn't have it's own to do this get in to the control panel go to 3d settings then manage 3d settings scroll down to vertical sync and select force off

Personally, I would have vsync any higher than say 5-10 fps higher than your refresh rate or you risk getting distortion.....

With a 7600GT you really should turn vertical sync on. If you want to benchmark then use a benchmarking suit, games are for enjoyment. :):):)
