Trying to use 2 screens off of one notebook?

my boss has a notebook and a large monitor that is connected to it, the notebook works as a normal computer, but shows nothing on the screen, by his choice, he even keeps the lid closed.

However, now he wants to use both screens for work with one showing for ex: Internet Explorer and the second showing for ex: Outlook or Word.

This sounds logical and easy but neither of us are computer guru's and not sure what type of software or hardware it would take to make this possible.

Does anyone else have a clue?

depends on the notebook, usually holding FN + F4 will toggle between the 2 displays or using both.

It might not be F4 depending on the notebook, the key will have a tiny picture of a monitor on it though!

There is a nice program Acer Gridvista ,it can do all what you mentioned. Very easy to use. It is for free and works on any Windows-as they say, definitely works on XP.

I appreciate your response and will check to see if dummies 101 can use it, . Not spoiling by any means, he's paying my pay check so unfortunately I get all these kinds of tasks and not good at them to start with.
