Turn Computer On - Black Screen?

I turned my computer on today and the screen just stays black, its an onboard graphics card.

Any idea whats up?

I just noticed that when it turns on there isnt any beeps or anything, just hear the fans going and none of the lights on the keyboard light up.

Any ideas whats causing it?

Is the monitor cable snug with the graphics port and the monitor?
Is there another graphics port on the motherboard you can try? (probably not but I don't have much experience with on board video)
Have you tried the monitor on another computer to see if the monitor is ok?
Maybe try taking a video card out of another computer and try it in yours?

If you determine its the onboard video that is the problem then you can buy a cheap PCI-E/PCI/AGP card for like $20 if you dont need a high end one.

I have checked the cables, they are connected firmly! lol.
I have tried other monitors, still no luck with it.

I have 4 or 5 graphics cards but its a completely different fitting.

Really stumped as to how to try and fix it.

What kind of computer do you have? List all specs

Its an Acer Aspire M1640;

Intel Celeron 440 processor
512mb ram, 80gb HDDrive
Microsof Windows Vista
DVD-Rom, 9 in 1 Card Reader
