turn fan off?

on my alternate comp (a crappy dell), my graphics card is a 128mb nvidia geforce 5500. basically a few months after i got it, it started having fan issues...it making strugling gurgly noises, that were mostly just an annoyance. Eventually the noises stopped completely, and along with them, the fan. (im assuming the fan stopped working entirely because i was getting NO noise out of the card. unfortunately it was kinda hard to tell by looking while the card was in the computer).

so anyway, last night the fan started making some noises again, even worse than before. its perfectly clear by the nature of the sounds that the fan is not serving any purpose other than to be loud and obnoxious, so in the mean time, before i replace the card or the fan, is there anywhere i can go to just turn it off? any real force against the fan and it auto-stops, so at the moment i have a foreign object blocking it just to shut it up. most...horrible..temporary..solution..ever...

i checked the graphics cards settings in my device manager, and there was nothing there, so would there be any options in the BIOS? if anyone can help, i'd appreciate it.

Open the case, find the GPU. There should be like a small red and white cord goin from the fan into the actual card. Unplug that.
