Turn My Broken Alienware Into A Server

So I just got a new Alienware computer after my last one had so many problems that they had to replace it. It had something wrong with it that made the graphics cards keep breaking. Twice they overheated too much and twice the fans started clicking. Then there was some other problem with the power button and to find that problem, they replaced the motherboard, media panel, and front panel. They also replaced the cooling system and the hard drive at some point. So my first question is, how would I go about fixing this problem? The only thing that hasn't been replaced on the computer is the power supply. It has 16GB of ram and a I7 processor so it would be a good server if I can get it fixed. Then my second question is how would I go about setting it up as a server. I understand that if I can get a second 1 TB hard drive I can have 1 TB of space backed up through some sort of RAID configuration. I can do that easily with Ubunux I believe. Then I would need help configuring Ubunux. But first lets focus on fixing the computer. Thanks.

So basically, your first computer completely crapped out twice and they pretty much rebuilt the entire thing at least once (taking into account what was replaced)? Am I reading that right?

I'd be wary (and am wary of stuff like Alienware for exactly the experience you had) keeping things as-is. If you're set on having a server, why not just transplant the CPU and RAM into a custom build? Provided your MoBo still works, you're halfway there and the biggest chuck of money is already taken care of. Just get a decent case and HDD and you're mostly set.

Ok. Should I be getting a new motherboard and just use the CPU, RAM, and current 1TB hard drive?

Sorry - missed where you said you already had a Drive. Well, yeah, if the MoBo is a problem you can just get a compatible one. If it currently works, you can use it. For a server build, you don't need anything crazy, just make sure it can handle the RAM you have.
