Turning my phone off

I double tap my phone and it the screen goes black and then I don't worry about it anymore but should I press the power button to turn the phone off? Will it hurt the phone if I just double tap which is how I have been turning the phone off?

If you get the option to turn the phone off by tapping it then its fine. If its just puts it too sleep then you should turn off and turn it back on at least once week or so. Unless you don't use your phone all that much why even turn it off?
