Turning on sleep mode problem

I have a problem with my desktop computer. I turn the desktop on and my monitor button turns orange instead of green and says in sleep mode press any key. I hit any key and nothing happens. I've made sure the cords for the monitor are pulled into the desktop but still have same problem. Now I unplugged the monitor cord from the desktop and it has another message that pops on the screen I forget what it said it was green and red. But when I plug the monitor back into the computer it goes back to blank screen. Does anyone know whats wrong? If so can I fix it? Thanks in advance for any help.

so let me get this straight .. this only happens after you put your computer to sleep? not when you start your computer?
have you tried with a different monitor ?

It just start this yesterday(monday). I was on the computer Sunday night and turned it off no problem. Then Monday my brother turned on the computer and he said that the computer turns on but the monitor says that its in sleep mode hit any key. I told him to try a different monitor and it does the same thing.

When you start your pc. Does it start to run, shut down and go back on and boots?
Had the same problem, first I've to know you got the same problems.

K, go to your bios.
Turn off powersaving tools like speedstep, C1E, C2/C3 report, ...
Set your vcore manually to stock voltage.
Then save settings and boot.
This should solve it.

I'm sorry but I have no clue what you just said. This was one of the reasons I've looked for forums like this so I can understand what you just said. Is there a link for step to step how to do what you said? Thanks

Sorry I understood that when you started your PC you get nothing on the monitor? Like it's totally blank with no writing or normal set up visuals at all ?

If you do see something then we can get into your BIOS. The BIOS is a bit like the core of the computer, it defines settings that the computer needs to start. To get in you hold down either f1, f2 or del when you first start your computer. Hold until it changes, I'm not sure which key it will be so try them all. What you will see is the settings of the BIOS, look for the items Smile named and change them accordingly. If this is new to you just take it slow and don't be intimidated - nothing will change unless you change it.

The BIOS should look something like this (do not copy that picture just follow what smile said)

1. Start your pc
2. When you hear the pc says beep or you see that there comes connection with your screen. Press some times on 'del'.
3. Bios should show up now.
4. Go to advanced tap and take cpu management (it depends what bios you got)
Disable the things I list below (if you see any of them)
- speedstep
- C1E
- C2 report
- C3 report
- Cool n Quiet
- Epu powersaving
- every word with powersaving in it...
Try to look around the bios (don't know what bios you have) for cpu settings if you can't find an advanced tab.
5. Save settings and reset (should be noted somewhere)

Then your pc will boot again, try out your sleepmode and say me it worked.

I tried the delete button when turning it on and hearing the beep. When pushing the plus(+) button on the monitor "in power save mode" appears on the screen. It seems to mean that a screen won't pop up on the monitor.

Did you go in bios? It has nothing to do with your monitor power saving mode. It's the cpu that you need to disable all his powersaving tools...

Ok just a quick question... so when you turn the computer on with the screen on do you see things appear on the screen under any circumstance? What do you see?

Sorry I'm on my work computer because I don't have another computer that has internet access so I'm trying to ask questions to my dad that's at home. He said that when he starts the computer the monitor has nothing that appears its just a black screen and has to hold the power button to turn it off or switch the power strip off to turn off the computer.

I told my dad what smileman said when he turned the computer on and heard the beep press delete button. He said nothing happen. Would it matter if he turned on the computer and held the delete button the whole time?

So just say to your dad to stay pressing 'del' (ticking, not to hold it in) until he enters a screen full options. Then he need to follow the steps.

Yeh, normally it also says del on the keyboard, but could be it says delete at yours ;P.
I gonna sleep know, let me know tomorrow :S
