TV as second monitor

I'm having problems turning a tv into a second monitor. Two main problems, actually.

1) I am using an s-video to scart adapter cable to plug into the scart in my tv, but I'm always getting a black and white image. I have definately selected PAL in nView.

2) The clone function, among others, are not showing up in nView, I only have the option of choosing either the TV or my TFT as the monitor. How do I enable the other functions?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think that is because of the way that s-video sends video signals, i have the same problem wiht the OLD tv in my bedroom, but if i plug it into the new LCD in the living room it is crystal clear. Have you tried it with different TV's, or is the one you are using a bit on the old side?

I'de like some help on that aswell, i was wanting to get a big tv to go at the end of my bed that would clone the image on my pc monitor, but with nview i have only been able to make it show up a small area around where the mouse is

If you could elaborate on that a little, I would appreciate it. :P

My TV isn't very old at all, probably only 3-4 years. But it's the only TV I have to use. Everything else SCART-ish is working fine, I have DVD, VCR and Cable all going through it no problem.

Yes! I've managed to fix the colour problem. I had to enable the TV as the monitor, select Device settings, click "select TV format", click advanced, and select "Composite Video-out".

But I've still got the problem with nView not enabling the clone functions and the like. Any help would be very appreciated, since I feel I am on the home straight with this problem. :D

hehe, i'm not 100% sure what i mean myself! but basically i think s-video sends video signals that are not compatible with all tv's, also i just thought has your tv got a special s-video mode, like if you press the a/v button to get onto a/v input 1 for example, can u press it again so it goes to a/v input 1 - s which i tihnk kicks in the s-video capabilitys

No special s-video mode, just dedicated scart channel. Hence why I have a scart converter. Anyway, no matter, since I have got it to work by ironically selecting not the s-video selector in nView but composite.

Anyone know how to get the clone, dual functions etc. activated?

found an interesting article buried in the google cache
http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache...1700.html&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&client=firefox-a
about 7 paragraphs down discussed the need to have a rca convertor. Have a read
Interesting article. :) But what they said about an RCA converter seemed to be for instances where you have an RCA cable to convert. I've got a pure s-video to scart cable, without RCA connectors. In fact what I actually have is close to this:

But I'm just using the s-video part, the RCA ends are just left dangling...

The weird thing is that nView sees the TV, and allows me to switch to it as the primary monitor. Only it won't let me have two running at the same time.

Can anyone else help me with this? I've still got the problem of both monitors being connected and working seperately, but only one at a time...

There is one SCART-specific channel on the tv, and by selecting that I can use the TV as a monitor on its own. The only problems arise when trying to select anything other than the single display option...
