TV Tuner & AOL IM Conflict

I have a Leadtek tv2000xp expert. When my computer boots up, and AIM loads, it automatically opens the tv tuner program, and AIM gets an error and shuts down. I cannot run AIM with the tv tuner card installed. I've reinstalled AIM and the TV Tuner, and made sure I have the most recent drivers.

Not sure if this is the right forum or not. But anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, every single time i launch aim, same error message, it starts the tuner program, and shuts down aim.

If the tuner program is already up and running, then i can open AIM no problem. If i close the tuner program, i get the problem noted above.

I have two suggestions. If you can get into the properties of AIM, try to make sure any option is diabled to load the tv tuner, or to use such media. You could check in msconfig, and disble any tv tuner startup applications.

I dont see anything in AIM that makes any tweaks possible.
Right click the AIM icon in the task bar (once launched), select properties, click Live Video and try selecting "Dont Allow".

"Just for kicks, can you diasable the TV tuner in device manager and then launch AIM? Do that first, go from there."

That's the only way i can get AIM to work normally. But then the tv tuner won't work...

I've searched through AIM settings, and can't find anything that links it to the tuner. I do have a webcam that I've used on AIM before, but I disabled that, removed the webcam, still had the same problems.

Thanks again for your help. Keep the suggestions coming...

Have not done the AIM 'Live Video' adjustment. I reinstalled everything, and there is no longer a conflict with AIM. However, I do still get the static noise every time i boot up until i open the tv tuner program. The it tunes to a channel, then all i do is close it down, and everything works fine. Kind of a hassle, but i can live with it.

You probably get static becuase the computer starts up the tuner with windows, and the tuner is pr-set to a channel with static, cuasing you to hear that noise. Go into the tuners prefrences and change its default channel to one that does not contain static.
