TV Tuner

I have been trying to turn my computer into a tv. I recently bought an action usb 2.0 tv tuner from newegg.com it said nothing about the processor for system requirements. however when i tried to install it on my computer with an AMD Sempron 64 2500+ oc'd to 1.54 Ghz. it would not work. i could install the hardware and software but when i tried to use it, all i would get is a black screen where the tv show should be. reading in the manual it said system requirments for the processor is a pentium 1.4Ghz. i then installed it on my laptop with an intel celeron m 1.5 Ghz processor. I got video but no sound.
I tried to call customer support to no avail. the guy knew nothing about the device and said it was defective since it worked on one computer partially and not at all on the other. Now looking at other devices some say they require a certain processor and some don't.
so my question is, is there a reason why some will work with only a specific processor or does that not matter and my device is really defective? What AMD is equivalent to a pentium 1.4 Ghz? is there a difference? all the help is greatly appreciated.

First off, 90% of the USB TV Tuners are crap, so that's probably your main problem...

As for no audio, it's hard to say right off but I suspect you didn't plug in the audio jumper cable that most capture cards reqiure.

The sempron is more than capable of running that card. It's not your specs that are causing the problems, but probably some software/driver problem.

Do you have any recommendations for ones that work without having to spend an arm and a leg. I see alot online but I am now iffy of trying another one since i am having problems with this one.

MadModder - Are you freakin kidding me? I used one of those before and it was by far the worst I've ever used, even worse than my little USB 1.1 card I got many years ago!

If you want something decent, look into the WinTV's, preferably the PVR series. They are really nice for the price, espcially if you plan to capture video...

Another thing to look into, typically card that actually have a little metal box for the tuner have better quality over all. But I have seen some crummy ones with that little tuner box on them...
