Okay well I had my samsung tv as my computer monitor for about a month then a power out fried my power supply for the computer and I got it fixed I replaced the power supply and got a surge protector, now when I plug my computer into my tv the tv says "mode not supported the resolution is not supported on this tv" when I first bought the computer all I did was put an hdmi from the tv to the computer and it worked fine and I did change the resolutions but the tv was fine with it. then when this happened the only thing that changed is the power supply and now the tv says the resolution is wrong. Anyone know what happened?

when the computer boots, if you see the book screen on the tv, boot in to safe mode and then you can change the resolution, if not you'll have to get a regular monitor to change it.

Okay I will try but I am also having a problem with the vga cable, I unplug it from one computer and plug it into mine and the monitor its plugged into doesnt change it just goes into sleep mode, is their different vga cables for different computers and if so how do you check which one you need?

Double check all of your power connections. Since you aren't getting any output I'm assuming something was overlooked. I did the same thing a couple months ago when I built a computer for a friend, swore up and down that I'd hooked everything up right and that it was a GPU problem. It was, I'd only plugged in one of the 2 PCI-E connectors to it haha. Just make sure everything is in where it should be and it isn't doing that thing where it really wants you to believe it's in, when it's actually only pretending. ;)
