two cd drives lost

For some reason I lost both my cd drives. First Philips 48X CDRW drive about month ago and yesterday Sony DRU500A DVDRW drive. I can't find them even in BIOS anymore. When I but cd into the drive the drive light blinks couple of times and that's it. Can anybody help me? What could happend? What I have to do to fix it?
I have ASUS p4c800 deluxe motherboard.

Heya

Could I ask whether you have it on the same IDE cable? If not, it could be that your IDE controller has died. Most drives that DIE however no longer blink on you when you insert a CD/DVD.

P.S.: It could possibly be a BIOS or MOBO issue.

Have you tried just running a single drive, even changing the channels around, such as use one on the primary(if you're computer has primary and secndary IDE connections)

Looks like my Philips drive is dead and as it was a master drive sony didn't work either. When I disconnected philips sony started working again.
