I have added another hard drive to my PC but the PC is still only using the main one and nothing is being put on secondary even though main is nearly full.

I just tried to save video file tells me not enough room

I only have 1 GB left on HD

AS always thanks for any help

The system doesn't automatically start using the 2nd drive but when you want to save something you can use the "Save As" option which lets you specify where you want the file saved. In addition, most applications allow you to set their default save location so if it's currently set to save to a folder on the C: drive, you can change the default to save on the D: drive from now on.

Yep, windows won't install anything to the new drive unless you specifically tell it to. You have partitioned and formatted the new drive correct?

Windows OS will not automatically start putting your data on second hard disk drive. You must tell it what to do.Just be sure to create a partition and then format it first otherwise you will not be able to use that second hard disk drive. You can do that using already built in Windows tool called DISK MANAGEMENT.

Just like strollin said...when you are asked where to save your newly created files, tell the program WHERE you want it to put your files. So for example if until now you have been saving your video files on HARD DISK 1:

C:\My video files\Movie.avi

Then on HARD DISK 2 you would save it on let's say:

Z:\My video files\Movie.avi

If "Z:" is the drive letter you chose for your HARD DISK 2 partition. You can always change the drive letter in DISK MANAGEMENT anyway.

If you do not know how to partition and format the drive, take a look at this:

You can skip first 5 pictures if you want.If not then you will need to learn how to work with the KILL DISK too.But for you it's enough to do things just in DISK MANAGEMENT so skip first 5 pictures.

Cheers!
