two hard drives

I see some of you guys have two hard drives, like on is a 70gb 10k, and then the second one is say a 400gb 7200, how does this work?

ITs pretty simple. Basicly you plug in the power to each hdd, and a IDE, or SATA calbe(depending on your HDD). Then you set the jumper on the back of the hard drive accordingly. IDE cables can be plug into two different ide devices at the same time, but with SATA, you have to have an extra slot on your mobo, and another SATA cable.

O, you set one up as master and one as slave. The master is the one with the operating system on it. You can set the master and slave via jumpers located on the back of the hdd

Not always. you can load the os on any of the hard drives hooked up to your compuuter. So if you wanted to, you could load the os on the larger hdd, or vice versa.

The "Master" drive is where you want the OS to be, so if you have a 20GB with XP on it, and an empty 80GB, the 20GB would be master and the 80gb would be slave.

Slave is a hard drive hooked up to your computer that isnt running an OS. Under Mycomputer, right next to Local Disk C, there will be another icon of a hard drive that you can open up and drag files in there, or install programs onto it.
