i have two hard drives, a maxtor 80gb and a western digital 200gb (with a pci controller card to access the full 200gb) the 200gb is my primary drive with the maxtor as my secondary, however the maxtor fails to boot and is not recognized by the computer. here is my setup:

western digital 200gb is connected by an 80-pin connector to the pci controller and the maxtor 80gb is connected as slave, both on same IDE interface cable. i have the 200gb designated as master and 80gb as slave (could i also use cable select for both?) but my computer fails to get past the winxp logo.

can anyone offer any advice as to how to correct this? could it be faulty ide cable? bios? thanks in advance.
