Two Monitors

I have two monitors hooked up to my pc however my icons don't show on the second monitor only the background picture shows up. I can use my cursor on both monitors. Any suggestions?
 
I guess that is the problem, it won't open any programs. Nothing shows up on the secondary monitor when I open a program on the primary monitor. I did drag icons to the secondary monitor but when I click on one it only opens on the primary.
 
open it in the primary then drag it over into the next monitor, dont think of it as two monitors, think of it as an extension of the one you already had

You can set your second monitor as the primary monitor so programs open on the other one. Right-click on the desktop and go to properties, then click on the settings tab. If you select your second monitor in the window check "Use this device as the primary monitor".

Can can also get a program call UltraMon that will help you with your multi-display needs. With this program you can set certain programs to open in certain monitors. And you can chose different backround images, have two or one big screen saver on both screens, you can add a taskbar on the other monitor and more. http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/

It isnt for gaming, it just for multitasking. for ex. when i write papers i can use one monitor for researching the internet and the other for the word processor. Right now i am running the space shuttle launch on one screen and writing this reply on the other ;) for windowed programs, just drag the window yhou want on the other screen and click maximize

Actualy, if you set your screens to span mode, you can play a game across both monitors. What this does, is make it seem like one big monitor instaid of two different ones (wich is dual-display). There's also clone mode wich makes both monitors see the same thing.

I know for NVIDIA, you can set it to span mode by opening the ForceWare program :) . I'm not sure about ATI :( .
